Cycling

A trip out on your bicycle is a great way to get some valuable exercise, enjoy the fresh air and view your surroundings. This can be true wherever you cycle, but the Hampshire area presents cyclists with the opportunity to enjoy over 750 miles of off-road cycle routes and urban cycle paths making the county one of the most beautiful areas to cycle in the UK.

A varied terrain and vast cycling tracks elevate the area to be as one of the premier cycling destinations in the south of England. Hampshire’s coastline stretches from Highcliffe on the Hampshire/Dorset border to Chichester Harbour in West Sussex, plus there are miles and miles of interesting towns, picturesque villages and stunning countryside in between. Our countryside includes the New Forest and South Downs National Parks to enable cyclists to enjoy some of the best cycling trails in the UK. Please see here some of the wonderful cycling routes available for you to explore.

Gosport/Fareham Railway line

An unusual local cycle track close to many of our properties is the old Gosport-Fareham railway line and cyclists can enjoy more than two miles of quiet cycle track leading past the Gosport Leisure Centre in Bridgemary and further into Fareham. Alternatively, there’s yet another old railway line that extends from the town centre, across Little Anglesey Lake, past the Georgian Crescent to Stokes Bay.

Where to hire

Hiring a bicycle is changing rapidly, especially with the introducing of ‘Boris Bikes’ and more recently ‘e-scooter’ hire, so if you do not wish to bring your own bike with you please carry out some research or contact us and we would hope to be able to provide the latest information.
