Windward Retreat is a beautiful, cozy, ground floor studio apartment sleeping 1 or 2 guests, situated along Lee on Solent seafront, looking out over The Solent’s waters towards the Isle of Wight.

Windward Retreat is a ground floor studio apartment sleeping up to 2 guests.

Bathroom

Off the main hallway is a generous sized bathroom with a large walk-in shower, close coupled toilet, wash hand basin and mirror over.

Kitchen

The kitchen is fitted with all essential mod cons for self-catering including a convection oven/microwave, 2 ring electric induction hob, fridge with freezer box, washing machine, toaster, kettle etc.

Living area

The main living area is open plan with a comfy 2-seater sofa and large wall mounted Smart TV, coffee table and dining table with 2 chairs, all in front of the large picture window looking out towards the beach.

Bedroom area

The bedroom accommodates a large king-size double bed with pair of bedside cabinets, matching chest of drawers and hanging space, again with views over towards the beach.

Outdoor spaces

To the front is a lawned area, with low level wall, allowing views over towards the The Solent’s waters, with the main entrance to the apartment to the left hand side.

Unfortunately Windward Retreat is not child friendly and cannot accept children under the age of 18.

Parking

An off road parking space is available for 1 car at a cost of £10 per day (please contact us for more details). Alternatively there is on-road parking directly opposite the apartment chargeable between the hours of 10am – 6pm and unlimited and unrestricted on road parking within under a 2 minute walk.

Smoking Rules

For the comfort of others smoking is not permitted within our properties so please refrain from smoking indoors. Smoking is permitted in the outside areas only.

Bicycles & Bicycle Storage

There is unfortunately no lockable storage facility for bicycles but there is a fixed securing point adjacent to the apartment’s side entrance door that a bicycle or two could be locked to.

Prior to your stay we are happy to help arrange any activities you may wish to organise and answer any questions regarding the local area or things to possibly do.

Waterside Location

The apartment is within a stones throw of Lee on the Solent beach, a 5 min drive to Hill Head beach, 8 mins to Titchfield Haven Nature Reserve, 9 mins to Alver Valley Country Park, or 10 mins into Gosport, which has Stokes Bay beach, plus the marinas around the Portsmouth Harbour entrance.

Neighbours

All our properties are located within residential areas so we do have neighbours whom we need to consider. If you feel you could comfortably monitor noise levels then we would love to have you stay and have had countless guests who have had a great time with us at our properties. If however you feel that it would not be possible to monitor noise levels, then we would have to recommend you consider something more rural, without neighbours.

By Train

The nearest train station is at Fareham, an approximate 15 minute drive away depending on the time of day. Alternately there is Portsmouth Harbour Train Station, which is 17 min drive down to Gosport and then take the short 4 min ferry over to Portsmouth with the train station just as you disembark. The ferry sails every 5-15 minutes depending on the time of day with the apartment being a 10 minute drive (3.9 miles/6.3km) away.

By Boat

The Gosport to Portsmouth Ferry is only a 10 minute drive (3.9 miles – 6.3km) from the property with the Isle of Wight FastCat Ferry Terminal next to the train station to the right of where you disembark on the Portsmouth side. Portsmouth’s Brittany Ferry Terminal to Europe is an approx 21 min drive from the house (11.2 miles – 18km) and the Southampton Cruise Terminals are an approx 48 min drive (17.3 mile – 28km)

By Plane

If arriving in the UK, the closest international airports are Southampton (15.4 miles – a 30 min drive), Bournemouth (44.1 miles – a 1.02 hour drive), London Heathrow (77.2 miles – a 1.75 hour drive) or London Gatwick (83 miles – a 1.75 hour drive). There are also limited flights in and out of Lee on the Solent Airport (1.4 miles – a 4 min drive).

Grocery Delivery

Many major supermarkets now offer click & collect, or home delivery if booked in advance through their online shops. We are also in an Amazon Prime Now delivery area.

There are a number of local taxi firms; such as Andicars, Aqua Cars, Bridge Cars, Busters Cars, Cols Cars, Hardway Cabs, Streamline, Skyline, Solent Cabs as well as Uber.

Takeaways

At this property there are plenty of options on either Deliveroo, Just Eat or UberEats.

FAQs

Check in times are between 4 - 6pm (unless agreed otherwise) with checkout by 10am on day of departure. If an early check in or late departure time is required then we will do what we can to help, however if this is vital for your plans we recommend guests book the extra night.
Bedding, linen and bathroom towels are provided for the number of guests booked to stay. Additional bedding is available if required at the cost of £25 per set to include 1 medium sized bath towel. If additional towels over those provided are requested these can also be supplied at a cost of £1 per hand towel and £2 per medium sized bath towel. The above is part of our environmental and sustainability program, which is designed to reduce waste, with all our properties provided with washing machines for your use if required, plus you are welcome to bring additional bedding/towels if you wish.
Additional mid-term cleaning services are also available for a cleaner to attend for 2 hours at a cost of £30 to include a general clean of the kitchen, bathroom and vacuuming. Please contact us if required.
We are understandably sensitive about what surfaces items such as balloons and banners are fixed or stuck to so would be happy to put these up for you to limit any possible damage, but would not wish to take on the responsibility of choosing and purchasing these items for you in case we did not get it quite right. However, if you wished to mail the items you would like us to put up for you please contact us at least 10 days prior to your arrival for the postal details and we will endeavour to have these put up where possible, in time for your arrival.
